Wait--Is This a Harry Potter Wand? December 8, 2009 Ernest McCrackin (PapaBear615) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
So here's the deal: For a gift cheaper than $10 you really can't complain much at all, but I'm going to give a heads up to other parents whose children are as obsessed with Harry Potter as my 2 year old little girl. I opened the box and found, yes, the wand inside. My problem is this: For my daughter, there is going to be a MASSIVE difference in opening a gift under the tree and seeing a Harry Potter package with a wand inside knowing that it's a Harry Potter wand, and this, which is a plastic wand which looks nice enough, in a plastic bag with a cheap label stapeled on that reads "Costume Accessory."
I haven't decided if I'll wrap it and give it to her anyway, or toss it in the backyard for the dogs to enjoy while I purchase a better product.
Again, looks decent enough, but to the average person or child it looks like a plastic stick and there is nothing to let you know that it's a Harry Potter wand, just a heads up.
Wand wobble! November 21, 2009 S. Hart (USA) I suppose for the money, this is a good product, but it is a bit flimsy and bends really easily and once bent is liable to snap shortly after. That said my son was pleased with it and goes round the house swishing and flicking and cursing everyone and everything he encounters! Good job the Avada Kedavra curse isn't real!!
I think if I could go back and re-order I would pay the extra money for the more realistic wand. Certainly for a younger child this wand would be suitable (although be warned, over enthusiasm will break this wand easily), they probably wouldn't notice the difference, but for an older child invest in the more realistic wands which do obviously cost a bit more.
Cheaply made plastic October 29, 2009 S. Ahrabi-Nejad This wand looks passible for wood in the picture, in reality it is clearly cheap plastic. Before even opening the package the plastic is peeling off and it looks fake. If you are really interested in having a wand I would suggest looking at this page: [...]
Disappointed in vendor October 13, 2009 J. Highsmith (Virginia Beach, VA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm sure the wand will be fine for a halloween costume accent, but my gripe is with Amazon and the vendor, In Fashion Kids. I placed an order on a Sat evening, but then decided Sun morning to buy the costume locally. Amazon requires you to email the outside vendors to cancel orders. My order was still "open" and had not yet shipped. I emailed the vendor through the Amazon site as required. The policy says that orders that are "open" and not yet shipped can be cancelled. I indicated that I wanted the order cancelled. I didn't hear any thing back, but on Tues did get an email confirming that my item had shipped. I have already bought the item at a local store so I will now have a duplicate. The shipping cost as much as the item and they don't refund shipping charges. Even if I return it, they still made $5.99 off of me. Both Amazon and the vendor, In Fashion Kids, make it difficult to cancel any order and then use the excuse that the item has already been sent to shipping to prevent from cancelling an order. It took me forever to figure out how to cancel my order. Amazon doesn't have a customer service number but rather a number you can call to leave a message. You can request a "call back" which they say is the fastest way, but it would be easier if a customer service rep would just pick up the phone. They make if very difficult to find information on cancelling an order. Thumbs down for Amazon and In Fashion Kids.

The wand is larger and more fake than I expected, but still fun to use to cast spells on unsuspecting people!
