Gives cheap piece of junk a bad name March 6, 2010 Jeanine Pedersen (Oak Park, IL) This was the only thing my daughter asked for for Christmas. It was broken coming out of the box and never worked. The item itself was cheap, flimsy and poorly cast. The plastic pieces didn't fir together well, the seams were ragged and the battery case next to impossible to open. Once again, I wish Amazon would give the option of zero stars as one star implies there is something worthwhile about it.
Great concept but VERY fragile January 31, 2010 Stephanie West (Ohio) My 8 year old daughter received this gift for Christmas. She adored it but it immediately broke.
The internal piece that holds the battery contact broke during shipping. We got a new one from Amazon - they were great about customer service!!
WIthin 24 hours, the replacement had broken too, same place. My daughter is not hard on her toys; this broke just from swiping the wand through the air.
If it had stayed intact, I can tell you that the motion sensor would have driven us crazy, as it makes wand noises with minimal vibration.
But she still loves it - even silent...
Can I give this zero stars? Cheap and not worth it - costume prop, not toy January 5, 2010 Greenie (Decatur, Ga) I got this for dd2's birthday today. She took one look and knew it was not what she wanted - she wanted something more authentic looking.
This is a costume prop - she wants a quality toy.
I should have known that you "get what you pay for" but I overpaid - $10 for a dollar store item, IMO. In fact, I remember buying something like this (on sale) for just $1 or $2 for dd#1 a few years ago (without the fancy box). But I was in a hurry and this looked like it would "do the trick."
Not only does it look cheap close up, BUT, we couldn't get the battery compartment open to put batteries in. Either the screw never worked or I stripped it, even tho I keep 2 little phillips head screwdrivers specifically for opening battery compartments on toys and they work on everything else. It's so recessed I can't really see what the problem is.
So, she was willing to give the substandard wand a try, but no go - we couldn't get the batteries in. it's back in the box and it's going to be returned.
BTW, the package I got (not from ordering here) is similar, but it's silver - not green and yellow. so don't let slightly different packaging fool you.
I don't really have money to toss, but she wants "the real thing" either the higher-quality resin wand or the wood one - both run b/n $30-35 - a whole lot more money, but this just isn't worth the package it's overwrapped in.
The "official" ones are made by Noble Collections or Alivans
Bad December 30, 2009 C. Brown We couldn't even open the battery compartment cause the screw is stripped! So, my child has a wand that doesn't light up or make any sounds..bad choice!
grandson's wand December 30, 2009 Bonnie R. Hurlock (Pennsylvania or Florida) This wand is very cheaply made. Broke after a few hours. The wires for the light came off and we had to resouter them. Over all very disappointed in this product.
